After five weeks of no action and no water we’ve finally had a little rain resulting in the river lifting a foot. This triggered the fish in the river to run. On Tuesday 6th October, Brian Robb took a cracking 20lb cock fish from the Rock Pool at Almont.

On Wednesday 7th October, the river rose slightly again. John Paton took a 6lb and 5lb fish from the Bridge Pool at Bardrochat. John playing the 6lb fish was caught on video and can be viewed on our new Facebook page: www.facebook.com/DalreochEstate
On the same day, John Cathcart took a 9lb from the Bridge Pool too.
On Dalreoch, Colin Parkin took a 14lb fish from Dangart and on Almont Graham Hooper and Ian McIlwraith each took a 8lb fish from the Flats.

On Thursday 8th, on Dalreoch Doug Powell took a 6lb fish from Dangart and Colin Parkin caught a 5lb fish from the Greystanes.

Nice to have a bit of rain and see some fish being caught. Fingers crossed we see a bit more action before the end of the season. If not maybe the River Board will need to consider extending the season into mid-November in a bid to safeguard the interest in Autumn fishing on the Stinchar.
